Details for travelling by public transport

Recommended journey to Weitra:  

Franz Josefs Bahnhof (15.55) – also stopping at Spittelau – to Gmünd (18.04).
At Gmünd, walk to the Bus station (2 minutes) and take the bus WA41 to Weitra (departs 18.14 arrives 18:30). The bus arrives at Sparkassenplatz which is 5 minutes walk from the hotel.  

You could catch an earlier train at 14.29 – arrives 17.10 or, later departing 16:57, arriving 19:30.   There are alternative journeys, starting at Westbahnhof or Praterstern – see www.oebb.at    

Recommended return journey:

16.51 Weitra Sparkassenplatz – Gmünd - FJB 19.59 Earlier journey start time 12:51.  

There is also a train at 15.15 from Gmünd, but you will need a taxi (for this short journey) to reach this. Taxi – W4 Taxi driver (Schremserstr. 5 3950 Gmünd steidltoni@gmail.com Tel.: +43 676 / 304 34 13).  Larger vehicles available if needed.  

 If you want an extra journey on the  Waldviertelerbahn, there is a train (but not a steam train - from Weitra Station (16.10) to Gmünd, but you will have to wait in Gmünd until 17.35 for the train to FJB.  

Comment – basically getting there is no problem, as there are plenty of possibilities, with journey time around 2 hours, 30 minutes. The return possibilities are more limited, but possible.
